1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of The Civic Reset Project website, resources, forms, publications, events, digital materials and related platform services.

By accessing or using the website, submitting a form, downloading a resource, joining the movement, volunteering, requesting engagement, or participating in any platform activity, you agree to comply with these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the platform.

2. About The Civic Reset Project

The Civic Reset Project is a non-partisan civic education and public-interest platform focused on values, responsible citizenship, governance literacy, leadership accountability, youth re-orientation, honest work, dignity of labour, community development and constructive public engagement.

The platform is not a political campaign structure, government agency, party platform, ethnic agitation vehicle, fundraising platform or commercial document marketplace.

3. No Political Ownership or Endorsement

The Civic Reset Project is independent and non-partisan.

No political party, candidate, public office holder, government, ethnic group, donor, partner, supporter, influencer or institution owns or controls the platform unless expressly stated through official governance documents.

Any engagement with public leaders or institutions does not constitute political endorsement, campaign support, adoption, sponsorship or alignment.

4. Civic Education Only

Materials published on the platform are provided for civic education, governance literacy, public responsibility, community development and constructive public engagement.

They do not constitute legal advice, political advice, professional consultancy, election advice, investment advice, security advice or any other regulated professional advice. Users are responsible for obtaining appropriate professional advice before acting on matters requiring specialised guidance.

5. No Guarantee of Accuracy or Completeness

We take reasonable care to publish accurate and useful information. However, civic, governance and public-interest information may change, and published materials may contain limitations, generalisations, outdated information or errors.

The platform does not warrant that all information is complete, current, error-free or suitable for every circumstance. We may update, correct, replace or withdraw any content at any time.

6. Use of Resources

Unless otherwise stated, Civic Reset resources may be downloaded and used for civic education, public discussion, community engagement, youth orientation, governance literacy and constructive public-interest purposes.

Users must not:

  1. sell the resources without written permission;
  2. falsely claim authorship or ownership;
  3. remove attribution;
  4. alter materials in a misleading way;
  5. use materials for political propaganda;
  6. use materials to promote hate, violence or unlawful conduct;
  7. present materials as government, party or candidate publications;
  8. use materials in a way that damages the credibility or independence of the platform.

7. Intellectual Property

All website content, branding, text, design, logos, publications, resources, graphics, layouts and materials are owned by or licensed to The Civic Reset Project, unless otherwise stated.

Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and use the materials for lawful civic education and constructive public-interest purposes. No ownership rights are transferred to users.

8. User Submissions

Where users submit information through forms, emails, civic circle requests, volunteer forms, engagement inquiries, event registrations, feedback or other channels, they confirm that the information provided is accurate to the best of their knowledge and does not violate the rights of any third party.

By submitting non-confidential feedback, suggestions or ideas, users grant the platform permission to review, use, adapt or develop such ideas for civic purposes without obligation to compensate the user, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Users should not submit confidential, sensitive or privileged information unless specifically requested and appropriate safeguards are in place.

9. Acceptable Use

Users must use the platform lawfully and responsibly. Users must not:

  1. use the platform for unlawful purposes;
  2. submit false, misleading or fraudulent information;
  3. impersonate another person or organisation;
  4. interfere with website security or operation;
  5. attempt unauthorised access to admin systems, databases or servers;
  6. upload malware, harmful code or malicious content;
  7. harass, threaten, abuse or intimidate others;
  8. publish hate speech, incitement or discriminatory content;
  9. use the platform for political campaigning or propaganda;
  10. misuse personal information obtained through the platform;
  11. scrape, copy or exploit platform content for improper commercial use;
  12. use the platform in a manner that harms its independence, safety or credibility.

10. Forms and Participation Requests

Submission of a form does not create an entitlement to membership, volunteer approval, civic circle approval, partnership, engagement, publication, event participation or any formal relationship with the platform.

We reserve the right to accept, decline, review, suspend or terminate participation at our discretion, especially where necessary to protect the platform's values, safety, independence, legal compliance or public trust.

11. Civic Circles and External Activities

No person may establish, operate or publicly represent a Civic Reset civic circle, chapter, meeting, event or affiliated activity without appropriate authorisation or recognition from the platform.

Where civic circles or related activities are approved, organisers must comply with the Code of Conduct, Editorial Principles, non-partisan position, anti-hate standards and all applicable laws. The platform may withdraw recognition from any activity that violates its standards.

12. Third-Party Content and Links

The website may link to third-party websites, resources, social media pages or external materials.

Such links are provided for convenience or reference only. We do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for third-party content, practices, accuracy, security or availability.

13. Events and Public Engagements

Participation in events, dialogues, meetings or public engagements may be subject to additional rules, registration requirements, security arrangements or conduct standards.

We reserve the right to refuse or remove participation where necessary to protect safety, order, dignity, non-partisanship or compliance with the platform's standards.

14. Privacy

Use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the platform or submitting information, you acknowledge that personal information may be processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

15. Suspension or Restriction of Access

We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to platform features, forms, events, resources or participation where a user violates these Terms, the Code of Conduct, applicable law or platform standards.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted operation.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Civic Reset Project, its operators, founders, administrators, volunteers, contributors and representatives shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive or exemplary loss arising from use of the platform, reliance on content, inability to access the website, participation in activities, third-party conduct or unauthorised use of materials.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18. Indemnity

Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Civic Reset Project, its operators, administrators, volunteers, contributors and representatives from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses arising from:

  1. breach of these Terms;
  2. misuse of the platform;
  3. unlawful conduct;
  4. infringement of third-party rights;
  5. misuse of Civic Reset materials;
  6. unauthorised representation of affiliation;
  7. violation of the Code of Conduct.

19. Changes to the Platform

We may update, suspend, withdraw, redesign, restrict or discontinue any part of the platform, including resources, features, forms, events or publications, at any time.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published on the website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

21. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

22. Dispute Resolution

Where a dispute arises from use of the platform, the parties shall first attempt to resolve the matter in good faith through informal engagement.

Where resolution is not achieved, the dispute may be referred to mediation or any other lawful dispute resolution process agreed by the parties, without prejudice to any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
